About Second Helping Nwa

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

-Mother Teresa

"I never knew what was going to come of this in the beginning, but now I see how much need there is. We must continue to fight against hunger each and every day. Help me to continue feeding the community"

The Second Helping NWA Story

It all started with a need and a desire to fulfill that need. There are so many under-served populations in Northwest Arkansas, and I wanted to make a difference. Secondhand Smoke is where old fashioned BBQ intersects with the community. We have started a non-profit called Second Helping NWA. This non-profit is apart of a bigger mission of feeding those who may need a meal and cannot afford one. When you purchase meals from Secondhand Smoke a portion of the proceeds go to helping those in need, in the form of meals. We have received donations from around the region, and could not do what we do, without the great Community Support.

During the COVID 19 crisis, we are making it our mission to go to under-served areas and feed the people. My mission is simple, if you need to eat, I will feed you. If you want to donate, you can click the donation button below to make a difference in the community. I want to thank all the customers, sponsors, and community members who have helped me to make a difference in so many lives. We will get through this together. We are #NWAStrong.  I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The World Has Changed

We have been in the midst of COVID-19 for 5 months now, and it doesn’t look like things will be back to normal anytime soon. In this pandemic, I have been laser focused on feeding people who may not be able to afford a meal, due to the pandemic. Some of the great people I get to visit with, are truly struggling to get by, and all they need sometimes, is somebody to listen to them. So, that’s where food comes in, I have the unique skill of cooking great BBQ, and I use that skill to provide support and encouragement to the great community of Northwest Arkansas. We may not know how all this is going to turn out, but I do know, I will continue to keep feeding the less fortunate in this community, and support those who are in need the most. Please feel free to join me in this cause, as your donation goes directly to the support of those less fortunate here in Northwest Arkansas .

Local Involvement

We live in a great place. Northwest Arkansas is home for me, and I couldn't be more proud of Fayetteville. This region has supported my cause from the beginning, it's one of many reasons why I love this area!

Support Local

Community support is the ultimate indicator of a good thing. When we take the time to intentionally place our dollars within the community, it helps us all create a place we love and enjoy.

I Love To BBQ

Man oh man, I absolutely am blessed to be able to do what I love. BBQ has been a way for me to express myself, and help others along the way. When you are as fortunate as I am, you tend to appreciate the small wins more. I have to say Second Helping NWA is a small win that will make a big impact for so many. Let's Keep Feeding The Community!

We Can Help Stop Food Waste

One way I have been able to really support my mission in feeding the community, is to gather items people, businesses, and organizations no longer need,  and wish to donate. Northwest Arkansas residents and businesses waste 80,000 tons of food each year according to the Northwest Arkansas Council.

With a population of 563,400 and growing 32 people a day, Northwest Arkansas is growing faster than 96 of the nation’s 100 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas, according to the Northwest Arkansas Council.
